Last updated November 1, 2026. This policy explains what information RestStopsNearMe processes when you use the site.
Your location
When you use "Near Me", your browser asks for permission to share your location. If you allow it, your location is used only inside your browser to sort the rest areas on the map by distance. It is not sent to our server and not stored.
Contact form
When you send a message through the contact form, we receive the subject, your message, the rest area it is about and, if you provide them, your name and e-mail address. This information is sent to us by e-mail so we can check your report and reply. It is not stored in the website's database beyond a technical log entry that a message was sent, and it is not shared with third parties. To prevent abuse, the form keeps a temporary, anonymised counter per connection for one hour.
Maps and external services
- Map tiles are loaded from tile.openstreetmap.org, and the map library from a public content delivery network. Like any website, these services receive your IP address when your browser requests the files.
- "Open directions" opens Google Maps. Google's privacy policy applies there.
Server logs and cookies
Our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and requested page) for security and operation. The rest area directory itself does not set tracking or advertising cookies. If we add analytics or advertising in the future, this policy will be updated first.
Your rights
You can ask us which information we hold about you from a contact message and ask us to delete it. Use the contact form for any privacy request.
